Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was the daughter of actors Melissa D. Canaday (New York City) and Edward James Hyland (New York City). At the age of four she began her career in the industry with voiceovers and commercial work. Private Parts (1997) was her first film. The Object of My Affection (1998) followed by Another World (1964) where she played "Rain Wolfe" the child found in the park and fostered and raised by Josie. Sarah would go on to collaborate with Amy Carlson ("Josie" on AW) many more times: Falcone (2000), Law & Order (1990) and Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was selected to play "Audrey Hepburn" in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story (2001). In the same year, she was selected to play "Molly" in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999). It starred Kathy Bates, Audra Mcdonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chenoweth and Joe Gould’s Secret (2000) as well as Falcone (2000). Sarah trained in voice as well as tap, jazz, and hip-hop along with film and television. Sarah, a New Yorker, also appeared as an invited performer for her tap and Theater dance classes at "Reel to Real" Lincoln Center. When she was home-schooled by her mom, she went to public schools until the second grade. She was accepted into PPAS in 6th grade. This school is where she stayed until graduation in the year 2008. When Sarah was 18 years old and moved to Los Angeles, CA and, within two weeks, had landed a pilot named "My American Family". After being picked up, the name was changed to Modern Family (2009). Sarah currently portrays Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
